The iPhone 16e, which is part of Apple’s latest 16 series phone, has grabbed the attention of users with its high performance potential and new features. However, some errors have also surfaced that are causing trouble for users. These problems include battery drain, Bluetooth audio problems, camera shortcomings, lack of some features and screen-related problems. Let’s discuss these problems and their possible solutions (Troubleshooting Tips) in detail.

1. Battery Drain

Many users have complained that the iPhone 16e battery is draining fast, especially when the phone is idle. The battery drops by 10-30% overnight. Background app activity, Bluetooth usage and Apple intelligence features (such as enhanced Siri) are believed to be responsible for this. Although the iPhone 16e with the A18 chip and a larger battery is promised up to 18 hours of video playback, this performance is different in actual use.

Solution:

  • To save, iPhone 16e battery juice… keep the Apple intelligence features turned off. Also turn off the Bluetooth, Location Service (GPS), Wi-Fi.
  • Update the iPhone 16e OS to latest (sometimes bugs are responsible for battery drain) and restart the device for better battery backup and smooth performance.

2. Bluetooth Audio Issue

Many users have complained on Social Media regarding the bluetooth connectivity issues with audio devices like AirPods or speakers. These include problems like intermittent sound, dropouts and crackling in audio. This problem increases when multiple devices are paired simultaneously.

Solution:

  • Upair and Re-Pair the Bluetooth Device. Go to settings > Bluetooth > tap “i” > Forget This Device and reconnect it and allow pairing.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure connected devices (e.g., AirPods, Speakers, Earbuds, Headphones) are on the latest firmware via Apple’s auto-update system.
  • iOS Update: Update the device to latest iOS. Though beta version of iOS can fix Bluetooth Audio issue in iPhone 16e, but it is advised go for stable release.

3. Camera Shortcomings

The iPhone 16e’s 48MP Fusion Camera, which has 2x telephoto capability, is performing less than other iPhone 16 models. It uses an older and smaller sensor, due to which detail is less visible in low light and processing artifacts are visible on 2x zoom. Apart from this, it lacks features like ultrawide lens, macro mode, night mode portraits and cinematic mode.

Its solution is change the camera settings, make some tweaks in the built-in camera app and select the location having good lighting conditions.

4. Missing Features

Another big problem is related to the lack of some features. The iPhone 16E does not have features like MagSafe, Dynamic Island, Ultrawideband chip and weak A18 chip. This is disappointing for users, especially those who were expecting high performance and the latest technology.

There is no direct fix for missing features, as these are design choices. Users will have to compromise with these shortcomings or upgrade to a better model like iPhone 15 or iPhone 16. Regarding MagSafe, there an alternative, Use Qi wireless chargers (up to 7.5W) or USB-C wired charging (faster at 20W).

5. Screen Flicker

The 6.1-inch OLED display, though good, has some users complaining of eye strain. The display is less bright (up to 1,200 nits) and uses an older ceramic shield, raising concerns about durability. Some people have reported screen flickering and say it puts strain on the eyes while using 16e.

Solution:

  • Reduce Flicker Sensitivity: Lower screen brightness and enable Auto-Brightness (Settings > Display & Brightness) or turn on Reduce White Point (Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size).
  • Brightness Workaround: Use in shaded areas to offset the 1,200-nit max brightness limitation.
  • Protection: Apply a high-quality screen protector (e.g., tempered glass) to boost durability, as the Ceramic Shield is less advanced.

These are common iPhone 16e issues and ways to fix them. Despite these troubleshooting tips, if problems persist, it is advisable to contact Apple Support or visit nearest Apple care centre. In many cases, a software update (iOS update) or hardware replacement may be the permanent solution to the problem.
